My Secret RK Kona Cotton Solid Design Tool

Er, uh, I should have titled this post as "The Lazy Quilter's Kona Cotton Swatch Tool."  Yep!  You are looking at a RK KC Color Card all cut up!  Don't worry...I always buy two color cards, so I have one that hasn't been dismembered to use as a permanent reference.

It saved me a ton of time cutting out swatches of fabric and gluing them to cardboard!! I just used a rotary cutter & ruler to zip through the card, and I wrote the color and number on the backs of each piece as I went.  With previous cards, I left this information attached to the chips, but I found their presence to be distracting.  Yes, I own the KC set of swatches, and I believe I own every color of KC, but when I'm choosing colors for a project, I like to use these "chips" of color to zero in on a palette.  That way, I can work on a place mat or small table, instead of taking up very horizontal surface in the house, picking fabrics for a palette.
